Our History

St. Aloysius Pre-University College is a sister concern of the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, traces its origins to 1880, when European Jesuits who landed in Mangalore in 1878 started the college to educate youth.

In 2005, to expand its educational enterprises beyond Mangalore in commemoration of its post-centenary silver jubilee, St. Aloysius PU College, Harihar was founded. The college belongs to an international network of educational institutions—schools, colleges, and universities—directed by the Society of Jesus, whose members are called Jesuits.

From June 2005 until April 2009, the college operated in space generously provided by Maria Nivas School, Harihar. From May 2009, it has been functioning in its own premises at Amaravathi, continuing its tradition of excellence in education.
